Music
at Little Zion
Lutherans
are very keen on excellent music and vibrant congregational singing.
Here at Little Zion we consider all worship to be relevant to the
teachings of the Bible and our contemporary setting. Our music illustrates
our worldview.
We
love the Bach of our heritage as well as the African tunes our missionaries
have brought home. Folk, jazz, pop and traditional hymns are also
represented in the mix that helps us interpret our unique experience
as followers of Christ in this place and time.
In
addition to our choirs, our musical organizations include the Little
Zion Acoustic Group, the seasonal brass and the chime players. Accompaniment for congregational
singing is provided on pipe organ, piano and guitar. We are also blessed to have soloists
most Sundays who add their gifts to our worship.
Our Choirs
Senior Choir (teens and adults):
Led by director Lisa Travis, the Senior Choir currently consists of 20 members. It is ever-expanding
and meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with a break
during the summer months. We welcome all who would like to join
us in singing God's praises. No experience is required;
you will learn about music as you go!
Junior
Choir (3rd-7th grade):
The Junior Choir meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:15
pm, with a summer break. If you like singing, you will enjoy being
part of this group of spirited youth.

Cherub
Choir (4 yrs-2nd grade):
The Cherub Choir is for our youngest singers, from 4 years of age
through the 2nd grade. They meet during the 9:00AM Sunday School
hour and have a lot of fun, learning songs, singing and playing
games. Lisa Travis leads the little singers, who participate in
worship occasionally and have activities together like picnics.
Organ
Music:
Little Zion has a pipe organ and
on Sunday mornings it is gloriously played by Linda Beck.
Little
Zion Acoustic Group:
Originally started as a small musical group gathered to play four
times a year at church, the Little Zion Acoustic
Group (LZAG) has become an organized 'band' of players
who perform all over the Bux-Mont area. LZAG's primary 'gig' is
the quarterly 'Land and Seasons' Little Zion church service, which
celebrates the changing seasons. The accompanying liturgy includes
special seasonal prayers and music that reflect our connection to
the land around us. 'Land and Seasons' services, observed in Winter,
Spring, Summer and Fall, are special to Little Zion and we are eager
to share them with you. For a schedule of quarterly 'Land and Seasons'
services, contact the church office.

Mitch on bass - always 'moved' by the music - literally, along with Rick playing echoharp, and Linda on hammered dulcimer. Little Zion's musical instrumentation is diverse. Come worship, sing with us, and tap your feet! |
LZAG
has performed at various area churches and outdoor venues, and at
such places we play a variety of music, ranging from early American
folk, Celtic, Bluegrass, and of course, sacred songs. To arrange for
LZAG to perform at your upcoming function, contact
George for information.
